About Me

Rev. David Mercer joined St. Paul UCC in September 2010 after having served churches in Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Ohio.  He was born in Clinton, Iowa and grew up in northwest Illinois. He holds degrees from Judson College (Elgin, Il) and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Rev. Mercer is also married to a minister, as his wife, Edit, is ordained in the Reformed Church of Hungary and holds standing in the United Church of Christ. Together, they have a teenaged son.

When he isn’t thinking about church and family, Rev. Mercer enjoys most anything to do with baseball. He is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, often referring to his past visits to Yankee Stadium as “pilgrimages to the cathedral.”
